Two days a week, Jorge Puente Luna wasn’t the consul general of Peru in Atlanta. He became the leader of a garage band.
Mr. Puente and 30 of his friends gathered in the garage of his Dunwoody residence on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons to play traditional Peruvian music, sing native songs and rehearse ancient dances, said his daughter, Dr. Erika Puente of Dunwoody.
He entered the diplomatic corps to take abroad the Peruvian culture he was so passionate about, she said. To that end, he organized the successful Peruvian Cultural and Gastronomic Festival staged in Atlanta in July.”*
