“Arizona hospitals and doctors have collected more than $92 million from the federal government over the past two years to offset unpaid bills for emergency care provided to illegal immigrants.
Although Arizona hospital executives are grateful for the federal subsidy, they say it still is not enough to defray the bulk of costs associated with providing emergency services to illegal immigrants.
And the financial aid may end in 2008.”*
