CIMS » Verizon Wireless and the Dominican Women’s Development Center against Domestic Violence at Gilberto Santa Rosa’s New Album Listening Party

Tagged: , ,

Last night, El Caballero de la Salsa, (”The Salsa Gentleman”), Gilberto Santa Rosa offered a special VIP listening party of his newest album, Contraste, for select media, fans and record label executives at the Slate Lounge in New York City. During the event, Gilberto Santa Rosa teamed up with Verizon Wireless, major sponsor of SONY/ BMG’s 2007 Latin Album Release Series, to present a $5,000 HopeLine® grant to the Dominican Women’s Development Center, an organization dedicated to empowering Dominican/Latina and other women and families who reside in Washington Heights/Inwood areas to avoid, end or escape abusive relationships. This donation is the third of five donations Verizon Wireless will award to New York area domestic violence organizations.

Invited guests were encouraged to bring old, no-longer used wireless phones, batteries and accessories for donation to the company’s HopeLine® wireless phone recycling program. HopeLine® collects wireless phones and accessories from any wireless service provider, and then refurbishes the phones or recycles them in an environmentally sound manner.”*
