“Agencia EFE and Televisión Española launched the first Spanish and Portuguese language audiovisual news service on October 14. The event took place in Miami at the 63rd annual conference of the Interamerican Press Association (IAPA).

This is a new information source with a Hispanic identity. It aspires to become a reference point for top-quality information in America. The service’s aim is to compensate for the Anglo-Saxon viewpoint that has been omnipresent up until now in the Latin American audiovisual market.

TVEFE offers news content via audiovisual media to television networks, digital newspapers, portals and web pages that need rigorous, credible and independent news reported from a Hispanic perspective. All topics are covered: Society, sports, entertainment, arts and culture, events, science, politics, technology, popular celebrations, etc…

The service broadcasts through a continuous system (24 hours per day, 365 days per year) via an Internet distribution platform. Subscribers of this service may receive professional-quality videos, both edited and unedited. There are two clearly differentiated services: “TVEFE-América,” with broadcasts in neutral Spanish and “TVEFE-Brasil,” with broadcasts in Portuguese.

TVEFE arose from the agreement announced on March 15 in Oviedo (Spain) by the presidents of EFE, Alex Grijelmo and RTVE, Luis Fernández. This agreement established that both companies forge a world class strategic alliance to boost the presence of audiovisual news content in Hispanic markets. To do so, they have more than 150 correspondent offices worldwide and three news centers: Madrid, Bogotá, Rio de Janeiro and the possibility of both companies’ news production departments working under the umbrella of TVEFE. “*
