“Earlier this week, the news was that a local businessman, James Walton, had shot and killed an intruder who had broken into his West Dallas salvage yard — where Mr. Walton also lives. It was the second time in three weeks that Mr. Walton used deadly force against an intruder.

Now the focus is the way KDFW-TV (Channel 4) news reporter Rebecca Aguilar covered that story and what’s happened to her since that story’s Monday broadcast. Her interview with Mr. Walton brought quick and angry response from viewers and immediately became a flashpoint in the blog-o-sphere, such as at www.instapundit.com, where critics assailed her “ambush” tactics and antagonistic questions, most pointedly, her asking Mr. Walton “Are you a trigger happy kind of person? Is that what you wanted to do? Shoot to kill?” On Tuesday, the Fox affiliate suspended Ms. Aguilar indefinitely.”*
