Queen City claims Vicente Fox – Cincinnati
Tagged: Cincinnati, family, Hispanic Chamber, Mexico, mexico city, OhioPosted on: October 16th, 2007“As it turns out, several other Greater Cincinnatians have family ties to Fox, because the former Mexican president has direct ties to the Queen City. Not many knew it until recently, but Fox’s grandfather, Joseph Fox, of German descent, grew up in Cincinnati, went to school and worked here before moving to Mexico in 1897.
The Hispanic Chamber is taking advantage of Fox’s Cincinnati connection, announcing today he will be keynote speaker at its 2007 gala, Nov. 7.
“This is a story that should make us proud,” says Alfonso Cornejo, president of the Hispanic Chamber, and a native of Mexico City. “It’s a story about immigration across countries. (Because of this), Cincinnati will always be linked to the history of Mexico.””*
