Police chiefs united in voice of reason (concerning immigration) – Phoenix
Tagged: Arizona, deportation, Phoenix, policePosted on: October 15th, 2007“The chiefs understand that immigration is a federal issue that must first be addressed on that level. Cities, with limited resources, cannot be expected to cover for Congress’ failure to act nationally by overreacting locally.
And the thinly veiled call for mass deportation of undocumented workers and families does not escape these top cops. They do not want to turn their police departments into Gestapo, demanding papers from anyone whose skin is a shade darker than an Arizona tan.
These law-enforcement leaders simply want to do their job, and that is – I’ll say it again – to catch crooks, not cooks.”*
