“The National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) recently concluded its highly successful 18th Annual Conference and Career Expo with a special event recognizing some of the Hispanic community’s most outstanding leaders. The 2007 Brillante Awards Gala, hosted by Hewlett Packard, highlighted the accomplishments of six select individuals and corporations whose work and contributions reflect NSHMBA’s mission to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development in order to improve society.
This year nominations were accepted in six categories, three for outstanding individuals and three for outstanding organizations. Individual honorees for 2007 included David B. Garcia, Ph.D., CEO of CEDRA Corporation, recognized for Corporate Executive Excellence; Jesus M. Maldonado Reyes recognized for Member Service Excellence; and Lt. Col. (Ret.) Consuelo Castillo Kickbush, President and Founder of Education Achievement Services, Inc., for Entrepreneur Excellence. Awards recognizing distinctive contributions from organizations went to The Proctor and Gamble Company for Corporate Excellence, The University of Texas-Pan American for Educational Excellence, and The Hispanic Heritage Foundation for Not-for-Profit Excellence.
NSHMBA’s conference theme for 2007 was “Leading With Influence” and programs and events focused on how the National Society of Hispanic MBAs and its stakeholders continue to make a difference for Hispanic students and professionals. Each of the individuals and organizations nominated for this year’s Brillante Awards have made outstanding contributions to NSHMBA and the greater Hispanic community. As NSHMBA CEO, Lourdes Hassler stated, “we celebrate this year’s award recipients and not only recognize their great accomplishments, but acknowledge how high they have set the bar for the rest of us.”
