Edgecombe Community College’s Hispanic/Latino Initiatives include workplace Spanish courses for specific fields.
Though the program has been around for three years, it’s picking up pace, said Maria Ortega, the college’s Hispanic-Latino coordinator. A course for customer service employees just finished; Edgecombe County Public Schools teachers are in the midst of a session; and there are talks of teaching Spanish to law enforcement officers.”*
