“In most things, Margarita Solórzano-Amezcua was a forgiving woman.

She believed in God and in the general goodness of humankind.

But when it came to what she perceived as discrimination against Latino , she turned downright fierce and spent the better part of her adult life fighting for their rights.

The longtime resident, who had been honored by Latino-rights groups and MANA for her years of volunteer advocacy, was 82 when she died Oct. 5 of cancer.”*
