The council counts nearly 300 affiliates now, including these six in Kansas City:
•Guadalupe Centers Inc. operates programs on Kansas City’s West Side, including Alta Vista High School, preschool, language classes, senior services and culinary arts training.
•El Centro Inc., based in Kansas City, Kan., helps Hispanics buy houses and apply for citizenship if they are legal residents.
•Harvest America, also in Kansas City, Kan., was founded to help migrant workers.
•Cabot Westside Clinic provides medical and dental care for poor people.
•Westside Housing Organization builds low-cost housing.
•The Mattie Rhodes Center provides bilingual counseling and mental health services, as well as arts programs.”*
