“State officials and experts from opposite sides of the political spectrum agree: If Nevada were to lose its undocumented work force, it would cause a huge impact on the state’s booming economy.

Some predict dire consequence with work stoppages and slowdowns in the tourism industry and costly delays on major development projects. Others see it as a boon to the remaining work force, with employers offering a higher wage and unemployment numbers shrinking.

“If (Nevada lost its undocumented workers), I can only think of one word, and that is catastrophic,” said Jesse Gutierrez, executive director of Nevada Hispanic Services. “A lot of hotels would be in trouble, I would imagine. Then the landscapers would be impacted, and the developers and construction companies, and it would go on and on.”"*
