I consistently get e-mails like this one or worse (much worse) at times I write back. This is one of those times.

“I can’t believe that in this great country people like you actually believe that you have the right to the same privileges that “LEGAL” U.S citizens have! What gives you the right to come to our country, break our laws, disregard our heritage, and think that we owe you something!! Let me make this as clear as I can….If you want the freedom to get a loan without credit, the freedom to protest, the freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, the freedom to worship, and all the other freedoms that our country possess…than go back to Mexico and “FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS” IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY!!! It is just hard to believe that your so ashamed of your own native land, and so cowardly that you leave to go somewhere that your not welcome..What is wrong with this picture??? Go home… there will be no reconquista!!! Apply for a legal Visa and wait,like a decent God-Fearing Human Being would do! If you respect the Lord Jesus at all than you must obey the law…Jesus said so!!!

My Response:
You know in many ways you are right. However, during the revolutionary war where this great country won its independence that protects both of our rights including free speech, the revolution had outside support. We didn’t do it alone. It still happens. We went into Iraq to topple Sadam and start a revolution and secure our oil. Should we do the same in Mexico? If you love our country, our democracy shouldn’t you help the Mexicans solve theirs perhaps through revolution. Why don’t you go down there and join the rebels who receive no help from anyone. Or would you rather rant at me. There are more than 20 million Hispanics that were born in this country even if you stop immigration the demographics in terms of babies is a given. Jesus, I am sure would not have wanted anyone to be hurt or prosecuted for wanting to feed their families. Jesus himself broke the laws of his time and was crucified for it, a revolution in a way, no? By the way Hispanics have more Congressional medals of honor than any other racial group so we have fought and paid for this country as well. So either you accept these facts and deal with it or become a rebel or fund a rebellion or continue to whine.
