Is I.C.E. a modern day Gestapo? What do you think?

I received an e-mail that combined with several other things made me want to pose this question.

The email (below) combined with Ann Coulter’s recent comments about Jews (see below) and what x-Senator and current Presidential candidate Mike Gravel (campaign site or wikipedia) said at Congreso Latino show a trend, if you ask me. I can’t find anything about it on the web, but he said something like this: The US now has more people in prison (on a per capita basis) than pre-war Hitler’s Germany.

Plus read this from the New York Times
“Immigration agents are not required to obtain warrants to detain suspects. The agents also have broad authority to question people about their immigration status and to search them and their homes.” (Including a citizen’s home) “There are no Miranda rights that agents must read when making arrests. Detained immigrants have the right to a lawyer, but only one they can pay for.”

“When the Nazis first came to power, they passed laws
to rid Germany of the Jews.The Jews could not be
employed, rent or own homes and had to have special
ID’s. Other laws were passed that allowed the Jews to
be deported. When this was not fast enought for the
“will of the people” the final steps were taken.

When you change the name from Nazi Germany to Farmers
Branch and Jews to illegal immigrants there is a
shocking similarity. Compare the Gestapo’s role as a
political police force with that of todays I.C.E.”
