Language often barrier in parent-teacher talks – Clarke County, Georgia – (need more than 100 volunteer translators this year to ensure all the county’s 2,300 Hispanic students can make the schedule)
Tagged: Georgia, parents, student, teacherPosted on: October 11th, 2007“Thousands of Clarke County parents will sit down with their child\’s teacher this month for important one-on-one meetings.
Packing all the meetings into a three-day window, Oct. 23-25, is a challenge facing every school – especially where half the parents may speak little or no English.
And school officials said they’ll need more than 100 volunteer translators this year to ensure all of Clarke County’s 2,300 Hispanic students can make the schedule.”*
