“The new appointment makes De la Vega the first Hispanic president and CEO of AT&T Mobility, a company that was created through the 2006 merger between San Antonio-based AT&T (NYSE: T) and BellSouth Corp. in Atlanta.

The company formerly operated as Cingular Wireless prior to BellSouth’s merger with AT&T. De la Vega had been Cingular’s chief operating officer from 2004 to 2006.”*
