Agencies help farm workers; Migrant Services Conference gets it all together – Florida
Tagged: FloridaPosted on: October 11th, 2007“They all came together for the fourth year; the service agencies firms and officials who now form an entire industry dedicated to bettering the lives of the people whose work gives us affordable fruits and vegetables year round in the United States. Good hearts, caring souls, and bright minds looking for the best answers were the rule, not the exception here. The Migrant Matrix IV conference “A map to decipher farm worker services and regulations” filled the gym at the Immokalee Sports Park Thursday, Oct. 4 with nearly 200 people from 46 government and private agencies.
The day started with a warm-up by motivational speaker and author, Patrick T. Grady (think of a Jeff Foxworthy-type cheerleader). Mr. Grady reminds us that humor and praise in the workplace give the best results when you need to “git ‘er done.””
