“Benthall is working with day laborer advocates Victor Trejo and Juan Paniagua of the Stamford Partnership’s Latino initiative, to teach Hispanic immigrant workers basic English that they can use on the job and elsewhere.
“I like English, and I want to learn,” said German Flores, a 46-year-old day laborer from El Salvador who was attending his second English class.
“It’s important,” he said through a translator. “I will be able to find work more easily.”"
