“La Plaza, an Indianapolis group helping Latino youth assimilate and succeed in a new environment, was the recipient of a 2007 Indiana Youth Investment Award presented today along with a $5,000 check from the Indiana Youth Institute.
The group provides educational, health and other social service programs to about 1,000 Latino youths. The goal is to help the children recognize and take advantage of the opportunities to improve their economic futures through education.
A key challenge for La Plaza is reaching the children’s parents, said Miriam Acevedo Davis, executive director of La Plaza.”
