BMI, the U.S. performing right organization, is bringing its successful Latin music series back to SOB’s nightclub on Tuesday, October 16th with BMI Presents: Noche Bohemia. The Latin music showcase series will feature performances by emerging Latino singer/songwriters Eljuri, Anthony Rodriguez, Joselyn, Bea Ba and Zeny y Zory Beveraggi. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:00 p.m. SOB’s is located at 204 Varick Street; industry RSVP is required and admission will be FREE. This event is by invitation only.

The sounds set to season the air during ‘Noche Bohemia’ will blend the flavors of global Latin groove. From the sounds of Afro Cuban drums, South American strings, and island rock to city savvy R&B crooners, expect to be charmed, even if you don’t understand Spanish lyrics. The music is infectious and for those who never experienced a bohemian night, if feels like “a moment in time with a bunch of friends playing guitars, singing and having a good time”, said Porfirio Piña, BMI’s Director, Latin Music, New York.

The BMI showcase series was designed to expose unique emerging singer/songwriters to music fans and industry leaders. The showcase series, which began in 2005, has since fostered several success stories. Groups like KMW, Columbian singer/songwriter Tatiana and duo Taxi Amarillo’s performances resulted in inking recording deals with major labels. BMI has a wealth of talent poised to shape the future of tomorrow’s music.

“Latin music is one of the greatest success stories in the music business,” said Piña. “Under the Latin music umbrella, there are many different sub-genres like salsa, merengue, pop, cumbia, hip-hop, reggaeton, rock and alternative. It’s been another great year for Latin music sales. Performance rights have seen a 7% increase, ranking BMI as the #1 performing rights organization in the world, with $839 million collected and $739 paid to or writers and publishers.”

The U.S. leader in Latin music, BMI represents such Latin songwriters as Shakira, Los Tigres del Norte, Juanes, Ricky Martin, Juan Luis Guerra, Café Tacuba, Julieta Venegas (SGAE), Motel and Carlos Santana. Broadcast Music, Inc. ® (BMI) is an American performing right organization that represents more than 350,000 songwriters, composers and publishers in all genres of music. For more than 65 years, BMI has represented the most popular and beloved music from around the world, a vast repertoire that includes more than 6.5 million works. The non-profit-making corporation collects license fees from businesses that use music, which it then distributes as royalties to the musical creators and copyright owners it represents.
