Hispanic rights still need attention, activists argue – University of Georgia

A year and a half after the Georgia legislature passed a sweeping package of immigration reform laws, and three months after federal reform collapsed in Congress, a couple dozen activists and UGA students tried to keep the issue in the spotlight Tuesday with a campus rally.
The rally got less attention than the argumentative preacher who usually occupies the Tate Plaza stage – most of the students walking to class didn’t look up from their cell phones and iPods – but that didn’t deter its organizers.”
