“Judge Albert Armendariz, Sr., a leader of the Latino civil rights movement who helped found the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, has died. He was 88.
Armendariz died of natural causes Thursday at a hospital in Brownsville, where he had been vacationing, his family said Friday.
“He had this passion for civil rights. He instilled it in all of his children and in all of those around him,” his daughter, Lulu Contreras, told the El Paso Times.”
