Polk grows more Hispanic – Florida

“But a growing wave of a different Hispanic influence — Puerto Rican and professional — is creating change in the economic and social climate of the county, some say, and has prompted the recent formation of a new Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce in the past two months.

Hispanics now make up Polk’s largest minority, according to the latest Census Bureau estimates, constituting about 14.5 percent of the county’s 561,606 residents.
