“A U.S. Border Patrol agent on patrol near Nogales escaped a mountain lion attack by firing at the charging cougar, an agency spokesman said Wednesday.

The agent was hiking near the Santa Cruz River when the puma pounced and the agent started shooting, said Rob Daniels, a Border Patrol spokesman in Tucson.”
