University of North Carolina Hispanic growth mirrors statewide rate

“In fall 2000, Hispanic students at UNC made up 1.5 percent of the total student population.

But this fall, 4 percent of undergraduate students are Hispanic.

The increase is a natural result of the influx of immigrants moving to North Carolina and their children progressing through the school system, said Winston Crisp, assistant vice chancellor for student affairs.
