Here, we don’t give a second thought to the window frames, doors and moldings in our homes, schools and offices. But how some of those products make it into the United States has forced Hondurans to flee from threats against their lives.

The people of Olancho, a province in the northeast of , have stood up to the illegal logging that has rapidly depleted forests of that nation. There, a corrupt wood products industry with virtually no oversight from the Honduran government has stripped forests by 35 percent (2.5 millions hectares) since 1990.”
