“Many shows premier this week on national television, but local television also has something new to offer. LA GUíA TV (lah geeah te ve) debuts this Sunday on prime time. It aims to be the first local show in Spanish focusing on the growing Hispanic community.
Every Sunday beginning October 7 at 8:00 pm on Blab TV Comcast Channel 21, LA GUíA TV will be the only show to discuss Hispanic issues in Sarasota County. LA GUíA TV is produced by TV Net Media Group, which was awarded the Frank Berlin Jr. Minority Business of the Year award last year by the Greater Chamber of Commerce. The show carries with it the support of its sister media outlets 7DIAS newspaper and La Guí Magazine.
Sarasota County has experienced some of the most significant Hispanics growth in the country. Since the Census of 2000, the Hispanic population has seen a 70% growth, at an annual rate of 10.1%, which is three times the national average. In Sarasota and Manatee the Hispanic population is about 70,000 and that figure could be closer to 100,000 if migrant workers are counted.
LA GUíA TV will run for half an hour showcasing a main segment about Hispanic issues, immigration, local businesses and events. The show will partner with La Guí Magazine in launching a contest, LATINA MAKEOVER. The contest will provide an image change to one reader of the magazine. This includes the opportunity to have a complete beauty treatment, physical exams, massages, weight loss, make up, hair treatment, studio photos, dress, and transportation in limousine to a restaurant for a dinner event with a friend or husband on Valentine’s Day. LA GUíA TV will cover the treatment progress and the big day. LA GUíA TV will also work to highlight in the first Hispanic Fair on TV and a political debate in Spanish with Federal and State congress candidates.

Beginning this Sunday, 185,000 Comcast subscribers will enjoy LA GUíA TV in Spanish on Blab TV Channel 21 at 8:00 pm.
