“For Lakeland resident Carlos de León Campos, 66, creating a work of art to celebrate the impact of Hispanics in the Tampa Bay area was a much needed wake-up call for his deeply rooted artistic skills.

The untitled painting, which won first place in the 21st annual Tampa Hispanic Heritage art poster contest, was created thanks to the artist’s Puerto Rican friend Johnny Vargas, who urged de León Campos to participate.”
