“Kina Malpartida’s punches hit the mits in rapid succession with thudding impact.

Malpartida has a lean frame, but she is starting to learn how to deliver punches with the kind of authority that will leave opponents sprawled out on the canvas counting the lights.

“You see that left hook,” said her trainer, Frank Rivera, who has trained many top L.A. fighters, including 2000 Olympian Jose Navarro. “She can really punch.”"
