“”The new law calls for someone coming to register their vehicle either to have a Carolina driver’s license or a North Carolina ID,” said DMV Manager Donna Mancus.

The new law went into effect September 15. It was originally created to make it tougher for illegal immigrants using foreign ID’s to register cars.

But DMV officials say the changes are also affecting many people born and raised in this country, people just like Peter Signh who just moved to Charlotte from Salt Lake City, Utah.”
