Ingrid Hoffmann on food, female chefs, being first

“Ingrid Hoffmann, the Food Network’s first Hispanic chef personality, has a new show, “Simply Delicioso.” As Hoffmann traveled from a Univision studio in Teaneck to New York last week, the Herald News spoke to her about the show, the pressure on female chefs to be attractive and Colombian pop music star Shakira.

Hoffmann began her career in her native Colombia as a soap opera star, then moved to Miami about 20 years ago, where she opened the high-end clothing store La Capricieuse and the popular Latin restaurant Rocco. She appeared on a local television show, caught the eye of producers from the Latin American morning show “Despierta America” and began a regular cooking segment.”
