Like a growing number of young girls approaching their 15th birthday, she will handpick and hire most of her entourage for the big birthday bash.
Three male friends and relatives still will escort her, but the 11 other chambelanes – the traditional quinceañera court comprises 14 bridesmaidlike damas and escorts, representing each year of the girl’s life – will come at a price. Krysten will choose 11 hip young men who train at Chucke’s Choreography in north Houston, one of several studios that specialize in male quince dancers.”
