Knowledge is Power!
“Florida students will get more than their “mojo” at Pollo Tropical(R) starting September 15, as the restaurant chain famous for its chicken on the grill celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Pollo Tropical created a Hispanic Heritage Month lesson plan for Florida elementary school teachers. The plan includes a group of four cards that give the Spanish translation of featured menu items, along with a brief description of each item. Students take these cards to their local Pollo Tropical in exchange for a sample of the food item on the card. Pollo Tropical cashiers sign and date the back of the cards to confirm the restaurant visit. Back at school, kids take a short quiz on the tropical, Latin-influenced food items they tasted. All materials are being provided by Pollo Tropical free of charge.
As an added bonus, the classroom that redeems the most sample cards will receive a free catered Hispanic Heritage Feast of Pollo Tropical(R) menu items in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Teachers will be required to submit all cards by October 19th to have their class considered for the Hispanic Heritage Feast grand prize.
“Pollo Tropical values its Hispanic roots and wants to work with local schools to help kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with a fun, free way to educate them on the origins of some of our traditional ‘Hispanic’ signature dishes,” said Kim Miller, Pollo Tropical’s Senior Marketing Director.
Teachers interested in partnering with this unique Pollo Tropical educational outreach program should call (305) 670-7696 extension 1066. Students may redeem the Hispanic Heritage Month sample cards at any company- owned Florida Pollo Tropical restaurant. For a complete list of Pollo Tropical locations, visit www.pollotropical.com/ or call 305-670-7696.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 through October 15. The observation was initiated in 1968 as National Hispanic Heritage Week. In 1988, it was expanded to one month (31 days). “
