“Speak Shop, http://www.speakshop.com, a leader in online Spanish tutoring via webcam, announced today that it is now a licensed provider of continuing education credits for nursing.
The Board of Registered Nursing in Sacramento, CA approved Speak Shop’s application to offer continuing education credits for nurses taking live Spanish lessons through Speak Shop’s website. A total of nine beginning, intermediate and advanced courses will be offered with 25 continuing education contact hours earned for each 3-month course.
The growth of the U.S. Hispanic population has caused a surge in demand for Spanish-speaking medical personnel. By offering online lessons with professional instructors based in Latin America, Speak Shop provides effective, personalized and affordable Spanish courses.
The curriculum will address nursing and medical Spanish vocabulary, cultural competency as well as comprehensive grammatical concepts. All lessons will be one-on-one and delivered online via webcam with native-speaking professional Spanish tutors. Personalized instruction allows the learner to progress rapidly, addressing individual ability and learning styles. Nurses will be able to select lesson dates and times that are convenient for their hectic and often erratic schedules.
Speak Shop plans to begin offering continuing education credits for nurses by the end of 2007.
