Tagged: Houston, Texas, TheaterPosted on: September 20th, 2007“Talento Bilingüe celebrates its 30th anniversary with three different events this week: An art opening for the work of local painter Edgar Bustillos is scheduled for 6 p.m. today; folkloric dancers and musicians will perform at 8 p.m. Friday; and Saturday will feature a showcase of poetry and music by Latina artists.
The center started as a theater in 1977. Jorge Piña, one of the founding members and now the theater’s artistic director, remembers it “as a theater without walls” in turbulent times. “The Moody Park riots happened in 1978,” he said.”
