“The children are part of the English as a second language program in the Tuscaloosa County Schools.
The number of students with a non-English speaking background has steadily grown in county schools in the past decade, with 101 new students this school year.
There are 425 students in the system with a non-English background, said Christina Womack, an ESL Specialist with the school system.”
