“Chilean native Javier Gontier doesn’t think of himself as Hispanic.

To do so would be like calling Americans English.

“We call ourselves Latino because we’re from Latin America,” he said. “Hispanic feels like we still belong to Spain.”

Gontier feels so strongly about it that part of his master’s thesis explores the concept.”
