AT&T and Gloria Estefan Bring Latino Hits to Customers

“Distance feels much shorter between loved ones when you can hear a familiar voice and see a familiar face. For many Hispanics, no face is more familiar than that of Latino music queen Gloria Estefan and AT&T brings her new sound to mobile customers around the nation.

After a long hiatus, Estefan is releasing a new CD that harkens back to her Cuban roots and is partnering with AT&T to deliver the music to fans whenever and wherever they are. To coincide with the release of the CD on September 15th, AT&T has selected Estefan as Featured Artist, offering exclusive ringtones through MEdiaMall and through customers’ phones, in addition to other music from her new CD that includes duets with Latino music legends including Santana, Jose Feliciano, Arturo Sandoval, and Cachao.

“Music connects our customers to their roots and to their world and for us is very important to provide access to the latest music from one of the most iconic Latino artists in the world, wherever they are, “ said Roberto Garcia, executive director of Hispanic marketing for AT&T wireless.

The new work, titled “90 Millas” and released on Burgundy Records, is the singer’s first Spanish-language album in seven years. The title refers to the physical distance that exists between Cuba and Miami.

AT&T has a long tradition of bringing the most relevant and hottest Latino content to Hispanic consumers, including music, video, games, and programming. Research shows that Hispanics have high usage of mobile content, including music, ringtones and texting. Estefan’s ringtones will be offered in addition to an abundant library of Latino hits currently available through MEdia Mall, including Mana, Enrique Iglesias, Daddy Yankee, Vicente Fernandez and others.

Estefan will also be featured in posters inside AT&T’s 600 bilingual stores around the nation, on online billboards and offered to the thousands of Latino customers who subscribe and regularly receive updates on the latest Spanish-language content available from AT&T.

In addition, AT&T developed its first-ever Spanish-language TV ad featuring integration with music from a Latino artist using the single “No Llores” to communicate to customers the value of staying connected to loved ones at the best price, regardless of distance.

Ringtones offered include an exclusive clip of the single “No Llores” that has been listed on Billboard for four weeks. To access the content, AT&T customers can navigate to MEdia Net from their cellphones or go to MEdia Mall on the web to download the ringtones. Customers also can access the ringtones by texting GLORIA to 386 from their phones. A small fee applies per download. For more information, visit www.wireless.att.com/espanol.
