“Stephanie Lopez doesn’t speak perfect Spanish, but she still may be a role model for Latin American women in the United States who want to play soccer.

At 21, Lopez is the youngest member of the U.S. national team, a left-back with an ability to stay on the ball and keep possession.

Lopez’s father was born in the Unites States, and it’s her grandfather who emigrated from Mexico. On her mother’s side she’s German and Irish, and the Spanish language was not part of her upbringing at home near Sacramento, California.”
