“Thank you Amy for this interview. You are a prolific writer and I admire your work. How did you come with the idea for this ?

An editor once asked me to write a story about , which indirectly led to Abuelita Full of Life (Luna Rising). My own personal experiences with death did not lead me to a picture . As for , my kids and I do make an altar every year. We do invite some friends over to add to our altar and make . For me it is a reassuring way of accepting death, and it is a day to remember our dead. But our traditions are kind of our own. They aren’t something I grew up with. None the less, I played with the suggestion in the back of my head.”
