“The glory days of Latin jazz, Afro- and salsa music are evoked by recent CD releases, including Larry Harlow’s Latin Legends of Fania, “40th Anniversary Live Concert”; the Spanish Harlem Orchestra’s “United We Swing”; and the Putumayo Presents compilation “Latin Jazz.”

All three discs vibrate with the heat and intensity of big horns and massive percussion that drive the infectious rhythms. The music is wrapped in complex arrangements and sweeping orchestration. The musicianship is impeccable, the fidelity exquisite. The CDs would make a wonderful addition to anyone’s collection.”
