Purdue’s Latinos cheer their heritage, welcome Córdova
Tagged: family, IndianaPosted on: September 15th, 2007“Sophomore Elizabeth Gutierrez, a Mexican American and the first person in her family to attend college, said she sometimes felt out of place at Purdue University.
That was before she became active at Purdue’s Latino Cultural Center (LCC) and before Purdue hired its first Hispanic president, France Córdova.
“I think it’s a great idea,” said Gutierrez. “It helps us look forward to the future and know that we can make it.”"
