Officers getting crash course in Spanish language – Murfreesboro, Tennessee

“Last week, Ayub, who is a sergeant with the Knoxville Police Department, worked to increase the communication skills of about 30 Murfreesboro police officers, dispatchers and other personnel who encounter Spanish-speaking citizens on a daily basis. She also taught them some basics about Hispanic culture.

The goal is for Murfreesboro police to be able to recite and understand short phrases in Spanish for simple questioning and report information ”” valuable skills considering Rutherford County’s exploding Hispanic population.”
