HITN-TV Launches Special Programming for Hispanic Heritage Month and New Fall Season Series

“Hispanic Information Telecommunications Network (-TV), the first educational and cultural network in the United States, has announced its programming specials in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and a new programming series for the fall season.

“We’ve created additional special programming to honor Latinos and their contributions to this country,” said Jose Luis Rodriguez, -TV Founder and President. “Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration that highlights Latinos’ culture and history, so -TV has added new shows with this mission at its core.”

-TV’s Hispanic Heritage Month programming specials include the following:

– National Folkloric Ballet of : An extraordinary performance of this ballet directly from the Xcaret Park Theatre in Cancun, MX. Sunday, Sept. 16 at 9:30 p.m. (ET).

– Myths, Legends & Traditional Holidays from : A series of nine animated short tales for and families that narrate five magical stories and four unforgettable Latin American celebrations. Starting Wednesday, Sept. 19 and throughout Hispanic Heritage Month.

– José Campeche and His Times: This original -TV production is a comprehensive review of this important painter’s work and life within the context of 18th century society. Thursday, Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. (ET).

– La Pasión Latina del Tango: -TV original production that analyzes how diverse the tango genre is in the United States, how the tango phenomenon has been welcomed by this country, and is blending into the nation’s culture. Sunday, Sept. 23 at 10 p.m. (ET).

– Fernando Botero Biography: This original -TV production of the life and work of this painter who is considered to be the most important and famous living artist in Latin American. Sunday, Sept. 30 at 8:30 p.m. (ET).

-TV premieres for the fall season include:

– Mopatop’s Shop: A series co-produced by Jim Henson Productions and Carlton Television. Using stories designed to stimulate language development and creative thinking, are introduced to age appropriate concepts such as circles and squares, musical sounds, the weather and, of course, friendship.
-Land of the Eagle: A BBC production tells the story of how North America was discovered and tamed is told through two sets of eyes: the native Indians and the European newcomers.

– Revista: From to Madrid, the Revista team of young reporters presents interviews, features, music, competitions and consumer items, illustrating the different ways in which young Spanish-speaking people live. It also demonstrates the importance of Spanish as a world language and provides cultural information about Spanish-speaking countries. Revista is a BBC production.

– Earth Story: This fantastic journey of scientific discovery and a comprehensive history of life on the planet – in all its forms – unravels the secrets of our planet and brings it to life.

– Future: Science series that will investigate about the state of science and its current phase of development.

– Daily Cultural Newscast: An international co-production collaboration between -TV and the Iberoamerican Educational Television Association that will cover the world of arts and culture in , the Caribbean, and the markets in the United States where there is a strong Latino presence.

– Vive el Tango: Starting Sept. 27, -TV will launch a programming block that includes tango lessons, interesting documentaries, concerts, tango contests, interviews with tango legends and much more.
