“The aromas of bubbling matzoh ball soup and baking apples always remind Yanina Cotton of Rosh Hashana. But what she will miss most this holiday is the laughter and easy talk of her extended in Buenos Aires.

”I miss the ambiente familiar” — the atmosphere, she says wistfully. “We both do. The holidays are really about that.”

Yanina, 33, husband Alex, 34, and 15-month-old Azul moved to three months ago. They joined a growing Argentine Jewish community that includes two of Alex’s brothers and an uncle, a community that makes them feel at home — sort of.”
