“Trendy Spanish retailer Zara plans to open a store at Chicago Place, keying a major renovation that will “de-mall” the long-struggling Magnificent Mile property and convert as much as six upper-level floors into a hotel.

The makeover, which is to include a rehab of both the interiors and exterior, comes more than 2½ years after a group of New York investors bought the Saks-anchored vertical mall at 700 N. Michigan Ave.”
