“Alejandro Burillo Azcárraga, a member of Mexico’s Grupo Televisa’s prominent Azcárraga family; and Carlos Barba, who helped establish both Telemundo and Univision, have teamed to launch a new U.S. Hispanic network, with initial rollout slated for Miami and New York tomorrow.
CaribeVisión Holdings, corporate parent of the CaribeVisión Station Group, is a joint venture between Barba and Burillo Azcárraga’s Grupo Pegaso. Burillo Azcarraga will serve as chairman of the board and Barba will serve as CEO. The venture was initiated to launch the new 24/7 national ad-supported network CaribeVisión, and it has acquired the stations WPXO in New York and WFUN in Miami and has also signed a contract for the purchase of a broadcast station in Puerto Rico. CaribeVisión launches tomorrow to more than 7.7 million households in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The service will be available on Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey, on Comcast in the Miami-Dade area and in Jersey City, and on Atlantic Broadband.”
