Lots of debate news today. However, I was wandering around the Expo Comida Latina exploring and acting like a little piggy (actually a big piggy). 500+ exhibitors at the Los Angeles Convention Center gave me ample excuses to do so. Granted this is a commercial venue, but I found plenty of samples from tortillas falling fresh out of a tortilla making machine to a mango strawberry pie that should be a Ben & Jerry flavor. One can almost see the economics – the money – of the Latino food industry from grower to consumer floating in the air here.

Somethings that caught my eye (or tastebuds) – Torre Grande’s canned pulque (they had a passion fruit flavor that when mixed with Cassis was yummy), El Pinto Salsa, Syzmo’s organic prickly pear energy drink and Vivaz’s Horchata slushy to start with. Tomorrow, I am going back to learn more (and eat more!).

Gracias, Tomás
