“The prospect of losing two big conventions ”” and other events ”” has area convention and tourism officials plenty concerned.

Officers of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Hispanic group La Raza have threatened to cancel national conventions here in 2009 and 2010, which would cost the city thousands of visitors and millions of dollars.”
