“The nation’s largest Hispanic rights group may drop plans to have its 2009 convention in Kansas City unless a controversial member of the city parks board steps down.

The National Council of La Raza says it’s concerned about the appointment of Frances Semler, who belongs to the anti-illegal immigration group Minutemen Civil Defense Corps. Mayor Mark Funkhouser appointed Semler to the board.”
